Trans fats and saturated fats should be avoided as they can increase the risk of heart disease.

Vitamins and Minerals

The diet for gestational diabetes should include all the essential vitamins and minerals. Fruits and vegetables are the best sources of vitamins and minerals. Dark green, leafy vegetables like spinach, broccoli, and kale are particularly rich in essential vitamins and minerals. Whole grains, nuts, and legumes are also good sources of vitamins and minerals. Supplements may also be recommended for pregnant women with gestational diabetes.
