Healthy Homemade Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts

Making your own Pop Tarts is surprisingly easy, and the end result is a delicious, healthy treat you can feel good about eating. With a few simple ingredients and minimal prep time, you can make delicious, homemade Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts.
Ingredients You Will Need
The most important ingredient in this recipe is the dough. You can use your favorite homemade dough recipe, or if you don’t have one, you can use store-bought pie dough. You will also need butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and an egg for the egg wash. To make the Pop Tarts, you will need a rolling pin, a pastry wheel or pizza cutter, a baking sheet, parchment paper, and a fork for the egg wash.
Making The Dough
If you are making your own dough, mix together the dry ingredients and then cut in the butter with a pastry blender or two forks. Once the butter is incorporated, add the cold water and mix until the dough just comes together. Wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for at least an hour.
Roll Out The Dough
Once the dough has been refrigerated, it’s time to roll it out. Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out until it is about 1/4” thick. Cut out rectangles with the pastry wheel or pizza cutter and place them on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Prepare The Filling
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Divide the mixture evenly among the rectangles, leaving a 1/4” border around the edge. Brush the edges of the rectangles with the egg wash and then top with another rectangle of dough. Press down lightly around the edges with a fork to seal the Pop Tarts.
Bake The Pop Tarts
Bake the Pop Tarts in a 375-degree oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Let them cool before serving.
