Low Sugar Homemade Granola Bars Recipe

Healthy Homemade Treat for the Whole Family

Granola bars are a popular snack for adults and children alike. They’re a great way to satisfy hunger on the go, or when you don’t have the time to prepare a full meal. Unfortunately, many store-bought granola bars have a lot of added sugar, so it’s better to make your own at home. This simple recipe for low sugar homemade granola bars is a great way to enjoy a healthy snack without the added sugar.

Ingredients You’ll Need

To make low sugar granola bars, you’ll need the following ingredients:

• 2 cups old-fashioned oats
• 1/2 cup wheat germ
• 1/4 cup flaxseed
• 1/2 cup almonds, chopped
• 1/2 cup dried cranberries
• 1/3 cup honey
• 1/4 cup coconut oil
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

2. In a large bowl, combine the oats, wheat germ, flaxseed, almonds and dried cranberries.

3. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, coconut oil, brown sugar and vanilla extract. Warm over low heat until the ingredients are melted and mixed together.

4. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients, and mix until everything is evenly combined.

5. Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish with coconut oil. Pour the granola mixture into the dish and spread it out evenly.

6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

7. Allow the granola bars to cool in the baking dish for at least 15 minutes before cutting into bars.

Storing Your Granola Bars

Once your granola bars have cooled and been cut into bars, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. You can also store them in the freezer for up to two months.

Enjoy Your Low Sugar Granola Bars!

This low sugar homemade granola bars recipe is a great way to enjoy a delicious snack without all the added sugar. The oats, wheat germ, flaxseed and almonds provide plenty of protein and fiber to keep you full, while the honey, coconut oil and brown sugar give it just enough sweetness. Enjoy your homemade granola bars as a snack, or as a topping for yogurt or oatmeal.
